T - minus 2 days!

In two days I will be in Vancouver at this time. Kind of unbelievable.

I am ridiculously looking forward to this adventure. I cannot believe that it is finally here. But it is going to be a crazy one. I don't know what to expect. I think I have plans - tentative plans for New Years Eve with the roommate and a few other guys.

I still have to set up a bank account, find some sort of bed to sleep on, purchase basic needs for the apartment (silverware, dishes, food basics, soap, toilet paper, etc) and try to get acclimated and the city figured out by the 3rd/4th. Crazy!

I think all my details save for 2 have been taken care of here in Chicago. I just need to call and change some gas/electric stuff and then double check a few things with the insurance company and should be golden.

So, the few things I have figured out that I want to do in Vancouver before classes start include:
  • shopping for the apartment/my room/groceries
  • try to get a tour of the campus/meet the women who have been helping with loan/application paperwork
  • obtain transit pass
  • set up a bank account with a local bank
  • sign my lease and pay my rent
I know, some of those are cop out answers to stuff I am going to do but I like lists where I can cross stuff off.

I still need to figure out details for NYE and I still need to pick a few places to hang out or go to. I am very open to suggestions. I need to just do more research and that is proving to not happen....When I spend too much time chatting with friends online it inhibits the research part quite a bit. Haha.

I will be posting Ch'mas pictures soon. I had 4 of them again. Starting in November and ending yesterday.

Tonight I head to the lovely Duke of Perth for one last hurrah there before I head out. Yummy Buffalo Chicken salad, friend macs-n-cheese and my favorite drinks. Also with some lovely people. What more can I ask for on a cold, snowy day after Ch'mas?

My new neighborhood!

I just received pictures today from my new landlady. These are three views in our 'hood of the area that she took today. Uhm, can I just say MOUNTAINS! =) Unbelievable!

I have a roommate too. His name is Jeremy and he hails from France! Another exciting thing. Maybe my French will improve this next year! He seems really cool and I think we will get along well. I hope.

December 29th, here I come. Still very VERY bittersweet and I really don't want to leave Nathan and friends but, it is what I need to be doing.

Lots of excitement and sadness all rolled into one.

Hard.

So, as I get closer and closer to December things become more and more bittersweet. I am very afraid of what the next year holds. However this is mixed with a lot of excitement too. I am realizing day by day that leaving Nathan, Chicago and all my friends here is going to be one of the hardest things I have ever done.

How do you tell the person you love the most, see ya in a year! Hope life is good. I will miss you like crazy but I have to do this. Especially when you have lived with this person for over 2 years, been with them for 5 and they are your best friend. I just know it is hard. Very hard.

I know this is the right thing to do and I am very excited for the possibilities that this will open up for me. It will give me a job that I love and a future in that job market - hopefully!

Day by day, that is how I am going to take the next 2-3 months. Day by day.

Vancouver

I have purchased my plane ticket. I leave Chicago on the am of December 29th to move to my new city in British Columbia in Canada.

Wow.

I have a lead on an apartment right now and am hoping it pans out! A good location, a good price on rent and is through family/Goshen connections. The apartment is a 2 bedroom, has a back yard, looks to be in a nice neighborhood and looks like it would work out VERY well for 2 people.

I have had a few bites on the roommate thing and am hoping I can find someone that will work out on this font too.

I am making preparations to move though the last two nights I have been suzy homemaker. I cut out a few patterns for a dress and some purses that I have been wanting to make and tonight I made 6 loaves of bread. YUM! Though I would caution against putting 4 loaves in a 9x14 pan. They don't cook the whole way through. However, I mostly fixed those. I have really yummy cinnamon bread for breakfast and 'everyday oatmeal' for other stuff.

Our show closes this weekend and I am very ready for it to do so. The last couple days have been really nice in completely focusing on what I wanted to do with nothing else interfering. Doesn't happen very much usually.

Tomorrow perhaps I will work at making some more soup, cookies and the banana bread I wanted to make tonight and couldn't b/c of no baking soda.

Sometimes being barefoot in the kitchen is fun!
